Project Three

Website Redesign

Block Island, Rhode Island

For the third project, the Website Redesign, I was put into a group with three peers. Our group decided on a website that needed lots of major changes, but provided us with a great deal of personality. This project required our group to put in a great deal of effort, as the original website needed a good amount of work done to allow it to function effectively and efficiently. The most difficult part of improving upon the functionality of the website was making sure we were not completely erasing the personality of the original website.

I found this project to be extremely beneficial, as we were assigned groups randomly and were given a very limited timeline and due date. I would argue that this project taught me less about actual web design, but more so the ability to work with others in high-stress situations. Our group definitely struggled with integrating each of our own ideas into one defined website, but this also allowed our group to generate more ideas and create solutions that I would probably not think of right away.

The website redesign let me realize my strengths and weaknesses within working in group settings. I am grateful to have had this experience, as it can prepare me for future jobs and other endeavors. After completing this project, I strongly believe that online and written communication is just as important as verbal communication.
