Exploring the Glow of Georgetown

Updated: Apr 30, 2019
As an Annapolis native, one of my favorite places to visit outside Annapolis is Georgetown, D.C. Located 45 minutes away from my hometown, this downtown area is a beautiful place to go shopping or sightseeing. Georgetown is notable for being Washington D.C.'s most historic neighborhood. Regardless of the season, there is always something occurring in this bustling city. From December 6th to January 5th, visit downtown Georgetown any evening to experience the Georgetown Glow Light Art Festival. From five to ten every night, visitors can experience "the region's only curated exhibition of outdoor public light art installations". This event is actually one of my favorites and I love to visit every year it occurs. This winter will be their 5th annual show - as each year the event becomes more and more popular, as well as breathtaking. Since the festival occurs outside, don't forget to bring your heavy coats and layers! For an added bonus, the event is completely free thanks to the works of the Georgetown Business Improvement District.
This video highlights the major art installations this past year. Since I actually attended the event last year, I can confirm that these exhibits are more breathtaking and beautiful up close and in real life! I decided to the attend the event with some of my close friends.

Georgetown Glow is a very creative event that attracts a wide range of demographics. This exhibit is popularly known because the event encourages visitors to take lots of photographs and videos of everything each exhibit has to offer.
